Betting with Bud

Who doesn't like to gamble. Its fun and exciting to pit your skills against the oddsmakers or your sheer luck against the one arm bandits. Sports and recreation have been a consuming part of my life and so it only natural to look at teams and matchups and try to pick a winner. The oddsmakers are incredible really and thus every bet is a virtual 50/50 proposition. As most of you know they don't really care who wins but want even money on each side of the bet and adjust the points as that money comes in. If it is too heavy on the one side then they move the points up or down as the case may be. They use computers and statistics and all kinds of techniques to develop those spreads and by golly they are uncanny at times. The trick of course is to catch them when the statistics are skewed by one factor or another. Professional gamblers make their living trying to find that "sure thing" for the day or week. Now basically gambling is illegal unless you go to or live in Nevada. I usually make the sojourn once a year on a pure nonstop gambling junket. But in order to be successfull you need to keep up by watching and staying abreast. The best way for me is to place paper or play bets and keep a running score for myself. This forces me to look at spreads daily and weekly and stay current for my annual trek. I keep a running score and you know what, I am pretty darn good it seems. Anyway this is my blog and I will post my best bets of the day or week and keep a running score here. It is a great time to start with college football nearing bowl time and college basketball just starting and the NBA already in full swing. Lets lay it on the line so to speak. Bud feels a lucky steak coming on.
